Tinea faciei is a fungal infection of the facial skin. It usually presents as a painless, red rash with small bumps and a raised edge that appears to spread outward, often affecting the eyebrows or one side of the face. The area may feel moist or develop some crusting, and the overlying hairs can fall out easily. Mild itching may also be present.
In prepubertal kids, the usual infections are ringworm on the body and scalp, while teenagers and adults often get athlete's foot, jock itch, and nail fungus (onychomycosis).
