Typical features of tinea corporis include: - Itching occurs on the infected area. - The edge of the rash is elevated and feels scaly. - Sometimes the skin surrounding the rash may be dry and flaky. - Almost invariably, hair loss occurs in the infected area when the scalp is involved.
In prepubertal kids, the usual infections are ringworm on the body and scalp, while teenagers and adults often get athlete's foot, jock itch, and nail fungus (onychomycosis).
